3 Delicious Toasted Recipes to Savour by the Fire

Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner, these tree simple recipes will be your go-to camping companions - easy to make and even easier to devour!

Barbecue Brisket Butty

TOTAL TIME: 25 minutes



Serves: 4

Ingredients: 

  • Butter
  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 12 slices cheddar cheese
  • Leftover brisket
  • Gherkins, sliced lengthwise
  • Barbecue sauce

Method: 

  1. Butter each side of the bread and top one side of the toastie with three slices of cheese, a serving of leftover brisket that has been pulled with a fork, three slices of gherkins and a squirt of barbecue sauce. 
  2. Place a slice of bread on top. Repeat with remaining ingredients.  
  3. Heat a skillet on medium-high heat over the fire and melt two knobs of butter on it.
  4. Place each toastie on the skillet over medium-high heat; flatten down with a spatula and toast until golden brown then flip over and cook until the cheese has melted.

Club Sandwich 

TOTAL TIME: 25 minutes

Serves: 4

Ingredients:  

  • Butter
  • 8 slices white bread
  • 8 slices turkey breast
  • 8–12 bacon rashers, cooked crispy
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • Mayonnaise 
  • Mustard

Method: 

  1. Butter each side of the bread and top one side of the toastie with turkey, crispy bacon, cheese, mayonnaise and mustard.
  2. Place a slice of bread on top. Repeat with remaining ingredients.  
  3. Heat a skillet on medium-high heat over the fire and melt two knobs of butter on it.
  4. Place each toastie on the skillet over medium-high heat; flatten down with a spatula and toast until golden brown then flip over and cook until the cheese has melted.

Nutella Toastie

TOTAL TIME: 25 minutes

Serves: 4

Ingredients:  

  • 4 free range eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 8 slices white bread
  • 8 tbsp Nutella
  • Butter, for frying
  • Optional whipped cream, fruit and maple syrup

Method: 

  1. Mix eggs, milk, cinnamon and vanilla in a bowl.
  2. Lay out bread and add a thick layer of Nutella (around one tablespoon) to each piece of bread, sandwich them together and press down. 
  3. Melt two large knobs of butter on a frying pan or skillet over a medium-high heat fire. 
  4. Dip each sandwich in the egg mix and place on the frying pan or skillet. Cook each side until crispy and golden brown.
  5. Serve with whipped cream, fruit and maple syrup as an option.
